Why is there so much housing planned for the site?

Our site can go a long way in supporting Stroud District Council to tackle the district’s housing shortage and provide significant community benefits. The Council has recognised this – the site is a draft allocation in the Draft Local Plan. The Council’s proposed growth strategy seeks to distribute at least 12,800 additional dwellings and sufficient new employment land to meet needs for the next 20 years.

The Draft Local Plan proposes ‘Mini-visions’ for different areas in the district to meet housing and employment needs. Sharpness Vale falls within the ‘Berkeley cluster’ for Newtown/Sharpness.

Our site is proposed for allocation (PS36 New settlement at Sharpness) in the Stroud District Draft Local Plan.
